Diwali, also known as the festival of lights, is the biggest festival celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists around the world. The festival gets its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that Indians light outside their homes to signify the inner light that protects from spiritual darkness. Staff and students of Beacon gathered together on 16th October to celebrate this joyous event. We specially invited Ms Li Peng (Director HR and Finance) and Ms Chua (Director Business Development & Marketing) to join us in this festive celebration. The event started off with a speech given by Ms Chua. We had traditional singing and dancing performances showcased by our enthusiastic students and staff. Ms. Li Peng also took the chance to share her Diwali experience here in Singapore. Awards and certificates were handed out to students for best singing & dancing, best traditional dress and best Rangoli design. Any event wouldn’t be complete without food! We ended the event with Indian vegetarian buffet for all. We would like to wish those who celebrate this festival a bright and blissful Deepavali!
